Plastics in the dredging industry: Moulding PU

How hard do you want it? In that respect we are extremely flexible at Maropol with our polyurethane products. In that respect we are extremely flexible at Maropol with our polyurethane products.

We have a solution for every problem. Whether it has to be as soft as chewing gum or as hard as a golf ball. We would be pleased to make another unique product combining your question with our know-how!

Maropol has years of experience with moulding polyurethane. That is why we know exactly how we need to put together your product. Polyurethane is used because of the favourable properties this material has to offer. For instance, polyurethane has high-strength mechanical properties, great resistance to wear and tear, high elasticity and dynamic load-bearing capacity and flexibility over a wide temperature range. PU has a very wide range of uses and can be moulded into virtually any shape as one-offs or in small or medium-sized series.

These days, products such as nozzles, ropes for a variety of ship’s doors, vibration blocks, liner plates and many other custom-made objects are being used in the world of dredging. We can also cover piping and velocity meters with polyurethane as protection against wear and tear. The products are available in a range of durometers from soft to hard (20 shore A to 90 shore D).

As we always provide customised objects, we work with multiple PU suppliers. We choose our raw and processed materials to fit requirements. And then select the right supplier, depending on the hardness, shape and application.
