Plastics in the building industry: Concrete

In the past decade, Maropol has acquired considerable experience in the manufacture of concrete objects. Prompted by the demand in the market, we decided to specialise in the production of moulds for casting concrete objects.

Various materials are used to produce the moulds. Depending on the assignment, we make them from wood, polyester, plastic, steel or EPS with a polyurea coating. One ideal combination, for example, is to cast concrete in a polyester mould with a silicone coating (this is often used for amusement parks). Once the concrete has hardened, we take care of the finishing if required. This could be a colored polyurea coating with anti-slip.

EPS foams with a polyurea coating are increasingly being used in the building industry. EPS can be cut or milled into any shape you want, in particular double-curved or 3D models. It is a lightweight, durable product that is fully recyclable. After the EPS elements in the desired thickness have been sprayed with polyurea, they are transported to the actual building site where they are used as a concrete cast, either individually or in combination to create a large shape. Maropol is happy to provide the solution for your moulding issues!
